About Us

Mission: L.O.V.E. works to promote the understanding of speciesism as a form of oppression and veganism as a positive, effective response to eliminating speciesism and achieving the liberation of animals oppressed by speciesism.

Objective: L.O.V.E. seeks to accomplish the elimination of speciesism through the following means:

• Promoting a veganism that is accessible to all as a response to speciesism to our members and the general public.
• Fostering respectful discussion amongst activists and the community about veganism and speciesism.
• Offering tools, resources and support for members to promote veganism to the public.
• Acknowledging that speciesism is a form of oppression amongst many, that all forms of oppression are intertwined, and that no oppression is tolerable.

Values: L.O.V.E. promotes the following values amongst our members:

• Respectful, constructive outreach creates respectful, effective activists.
• L.O.V.E. serves as a safe-haven (see below) for discussion, growth, and change.
• Collectively, we honor a commitment to local, community-based activism and a pledge to support local activities to the best of our abilities.
• Members strive for honest and open communication, including an understanding that challenge and criticism are a welcome opportunity to grow as activists.

Activism Statement: L.O.V.E. encourages our members to participate in any actions, conducted without hatred, that promote veganism, work to eliminate speciesism, and generate awareness about these issues among the general public. L.O.V.E. does not condone activities that contribute to the oppression of human or non-human animals.

Community Agreement: Living Opposed to Violence and Exploitation (LOVE) and the website at loveallbeings.org primarily exist to serve our members as a resource and safe haven for the growth and exploration of veganism within the framework of oppression. We operate as a collective, not a hierarchy; all members of the group and users of the website must abide by some general rules set forth to protect individuals and the community we have all worked so hard to build.

As a member or supporter of LOVE, we ask that you:

• Be vegan or actively working on being vegan.
• Advocate veganism with your words and actions.
• Uphold the mission, objective, and values of LOVE.
• Foster the growth of a vegan, activist community both online and in your neighborhood.
• Get active for animals in a respectful, constructive way and encourage others to do the same.

Additionally, some guidelines have been set forth to foster respectful discussion within the pages of this website. We ask that all members actively work to keep LOVE and loveallbeings.org as a safe space for everyone by adhering to these suggestions for safe and effective communication, defined as that which is direct, truthful, and kind.

• Always attempt to understand and discuss new ideas when they are presented.
• Never stonewall anybody (“You’re wrong, and nothing more will be said about it”).
• Respect everyone’s opinions and give people equal consideration, fostering individual and community growth.
• Promote dialogue and acknowledge when change is appropriate.
• Create and maintain awareness of issues of power and privilege.
• Face conflict early and seek resolutions that target the cause, not the symptom.
• Value challenges and disagreements as opportunities to grow as activists.
• Commit to lending support to people and discussing and resolving conflicts in a fair and healthy way.
