COMMUNITY is a mailing list to support community-based anti-speciesism activists engaged directly in promoting veganism by educating the public about anti-speciesism. Specifically, the list is for:

  • Sharing activism experiences with fellow community members (What worked? What didn’t?)
  • Requesting feedback
  • Fostering a global community of anti-speciesism activists
  • Learning from each other so we may grow as activists

Topics considered off-topic include news stories; forwards; advocacy for issues other than anti-speciesism; non-grassroots efforts; philosophical discussion; advertising; general chatter. As a general rule, posts not referencing a specific outreach event where you or somebody else went out and spoke with others about speciesism and veganism are likely off-topic.

Please read the L.O.V.E. agreements before joining the list. When posting, all members of the mailing list are expected to adhere to these agreements, which are in place to create a safer space for sharing experiences, joys and concerns among our community.

In concrete terms, the agreements mean all members of the mailing list are expected to observe the following list rules:

  • Maintain a sense of community and trust.
  • Be polite and respectful towards your fellow activists.
  • Oppressive speech is not tolerated. The -isms (including ableism, ageism, classism, heterosexism, racism, sexism, and speciesism) as well as intolerance based on nationality, political affiliation and religion are not welcome here.
  • Stay on topic. This is mailing list is about sharing our activist experiences, and so posts should reflect your personal experiences.
  • Refrain from making personal attacks of others. If you have a personal problem with another person, take it off list.
  • Constructive discussions about disagreements are encouraged. Discussions that turn into personal attacks are not welcome here.

This mailing list is not moderated. However, members who violate the community agreements or list rules may have their unmoderated posting privileges revoked by the moderators or, in extreme cases, be banned from the list. The moderators are sensitive to issues of power and censorship. If they feel the need to act, you will be sent an email with an explanation as to why the message was deemed inappropriate.

Any updates to this page will be emailed to the list.
